Project: Write a news story about the college’s ski team

Key Skills: Meeting deadlines, writing skills and coordination with other’s schedules

This story for Westminster College’s The Forum was inspired by the lack of snow during the 2018 Utah winter. I focused on the effect that the lack of snow had on the ski team and their performance. I worked with a team of editors to improve the story, conducted interviews and took pictures.

This story was published to The Forum’s website, Facebook and Twitter. After the story was published I received positive comments from the ski coach, who said that a lot of people were talking to him about it.

Project: Report on the college’s opera production

Key Skills: Writing skills, meeting deadlines and time management

This story for Westminster College’s The Forum was written about the opera production’s collaboration with Operation Underground Railroad. In two weeks, I conducted interviews, worked with a team of editors to make a strong story and coordinated with a photographer for permission to use his photos. Throughout the process I was frequently editing to tighten up the writing for better audience understanding.

After the story was published it was posted to The Forum’s website and social media platforms. The article received eight likes on Facebook and two likes on Twitter. The story was also printed in the February 2018 edition of The Forum.
